ABOUT US

Miles Pitcher started offering his services when he noticed the lack of professional help for new boat owners after many years working in the industry as a Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster for Sailing & Motor vessels and RYA Yachtmaster Instructor.

Growing up in the sailing town of Burnham on Crouch and learning to sail on his fathers 22ft cruiser lead to a career that has included being a professional skipper of many well known private yachts in UK, Europe and the Caribbean, running large sail training expedition vessels, commissioning skipper for some of the most luxurious yachts built in the UK and formally chief instructor of one the largest maritime academies in Europe.

His qualifications include being the highest level of Yachting instructor for Sail & Motor, Qualified electrical engineer, International Maritime Organisation Trainer, Sea survival instructor, MCA electronic navigation / radar instructor and Ships captain medical first aid, He is also a RYA Powerboat and PWC instructor.

  • Sarah

Their comprehensive approach helped us feel more confident and well-rounded in our understanding of boats and sailing.

    Jeanneau 46

  • James and Tamara

We appreciated their hands-on help, which covered more than just instructional sailing but also long-term boat care. At the risk of sounding too enthusiastic, the value of having such resourceful and skilled instructors cannot be overstated.

  • Luke

They addressed not just the sailing basics but also broader elements like understanding weather patterns, line and sail management, docking procedures, and navigation techniques.

I had miles for my Yachtmaster prep week leading up to my practical exam. Was great to have him on the boat with his calm and welcoming demeanour, making it easy and relaxing learning new skills. It was good fun on the boat when he was there, always up for a laugh but also professional doing so.

It was also incredibly pleasant to have Miles and Phoebe on-board, and we enjoyed listening to their stories and sailing experiences over dinner and drinks. Another huge fan of Phoebe and Miles was our dog, who took to both of them immediately.

    Lagoon 52

  • Tom and Claire

We were thrilled with our experience and are already in the process of scheduling more sessions to continue learning about boats and boating.

  • Paul

A great teacher who takes plenty of time to develop the correct knowledge and understanding in a good atmosphere.
